Case Study - Villanova Residence

Case Study

A modest 100-year old stone carriage house was quickly transformed into a gorgeous home in the historic estate section of Villanova.

Guided by Rittenhouse Builders, initiating a streamlined, decisive process with the help of interior designer Linda Phillips Design, LLC, the home was a perfect showcase for traditional custom cabinetry from CFS.

Once the family settled on the property in late December, our collaborative team immediately set in motion a sequence of activity to create a beautiful space at an even more impressive working pace - just over 8 months from demolition to fully decorated.

By late August, the home was ready for company!

Drawings & Plans

With just a vague vision for the house and their needs as empty nesters, the design team took the time to really understand the family and the unique spaces that would accommodate the new way they would be living and entertaining.

Requests included a complete overhaul of the interior. They needed a new kitchen, two new bathrooms and all new woodwork. Using traditional inset cabinetry, we added custom architectural details and focal points throughout.

Material Palette

Bright white cabinetry, furniture-style beveled wood and granite countertops, herringbone tile are each complemented by accents drawn from the homeowner's treasured antique delft and china.

A gorgeous site line, from the kitchen workspaces through the dining area, removes all barriers for visiting while entertaining. They can cook, prepare drinks and relax all while keeping up with the conversation.

They treat your home as if it was their own. They worry about the details, remain engaged till the bitter end and keep coming back for even the smallest of “punch lists”. They deliver a finished product, which will exceed your expectations.
— Marybeth, homeowner

The family's personality and style are now nicely accommodated with ample storage cabinetry and custom crown moldings, all of which create graceful displays for their cherished collections.

A comfortable space full of glamour and grandeur. Pantry doors with gleaming handles are designed to match the refrigerator panels creating balance and artistry along a high functioning workspace. A beaded interior wainscot adds refinement to the breakfast bar and is called out by a matching striped upholstery treatment.
